Motor Racing Network Primed For Three-Venue Weekend

For Motor Racing Network – “The Voice of NASCAR,” the summer broadcast schedule gets rolling Friday with one of its busiest weekends of the season.

Three races from three different tracks -- Texas Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway and Pocono Raceway -- will help the network launch a stretch of 11 race broadcasts over the next 30 days.

The weekend tripleheader kicks off Friday with the WinStar World Casino 400 Camping World Truck Series race from Fort Worth, Texas, beginning at 8:30 p.m. EDT. Johnny Sauter swept both races in the Lone Star State last season, and seeks a third consecutive victory on the 1.5-mile oval Friday night. Matt Crafton, his ThorSport Racing teammate, leads the series point standings.

Saturday, Motor Racing Network moves 800 miles north to Iowa Speedway for live coverage of the NASCAR Nationwide Series DuPont Pioneer 250, beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT. JR Motorsports driver Regan Smith carries a 27-point lead over Sam Hornish, Jr. into the season’s first stand-alone race.

The weekend concludes Sunday in Long Pond, Pa., where Sprint Cup Series teams will take on “The Tricky Triangle,” the unique, 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway, where Penske Racing’s Joey Logano is the defending winner. MRN’s broadcast will be anchored by Barney Hall, Joe Moore and Jeff Striegle, with an air time of noon EDT.

Three more races are on the schedule for Father’s Day Weekend on June 15-16, including Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series competition from Michigan International Speedway, with the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

There’s more Nationwide Series racing on June 22 from Road America, while the Camping World Truck Series returns to the MRN airwaves on Thursday night, June 27, from Kentucky Speedway. On June 30, it’s off to Watkins Glen International as the second half of the GRAND-AM season begins with the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.

As the calendar flips from June to July, Motor Racing Network will bring the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to its halfway point with exclusive radio coverage of the Coke Zero 400 Powered by Coca Cola from Daytona International Speedway on Saturday night, July 6. The Nationwide Series also is on that weekend’s schedule from “The World Center of Racing.”

In addition to its traditional network of terrestrial radio partners, MRN will continue to provide live coverage of Sprint Cup Series qualifying streamed exclusively at MotorRacingNetwork.com for upcoming races at Pocono, Michigan International Speedway and Daytona.

In all, Motor Racing Network’s 2013 broadcast slate features 88 live events being aired from 34 venues. The schedule opened with the Rolex 24 at Daytona in late January, and will conclude in December with coverage of the annual Sprint Cup Series Awards in Las Vegas.
