Truck Team Sued Over Engine Bill

Triad Racing Technologies has filed suit against Vision Aviation Racing in an effort to collect money it says it is owed for an engine lease program.

The suit was filed last week in U.S. District Court in Charlotte, NC, and claims Triad has been paid only $392,000 of the $1.4 million it is owed for the team’s two-truck engine lease program. Vision Aviation owners Bill and Steve Acor purchased the assets of the former Billy Ballew Motorsports during the off-season, announcing plans to field two full-time Truck Series Toyotas for drivers Dusty Davis and Justin Johnson. Michael Waltrip won the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway for the team in February, but the team closed its doors in May after tripling Ballew’s former payroll and spending a reported $2.5 million. They have not competed since.
